Take a breath, and welcome to Yoga Alive

Right now, take a moment.

Sit up tall, and take a smooth, deep breath, inhaling and exhaling through your nose.

Now, take another breath.

One more time. And this time, really fill your lungs. Hold for a moment and, using the strength of your belly, expel every last wisp of breath.

Doesn’t that feel better?

With its energizing quality, this breath exercise is the kind of yoga technique that can help you manage your energy.

If you’ve been following the eight-week Living Yoga series at thestar.com/yoga, you’re already tuned into your breath. I know because I’ve had emails and fan mail:

“Living Yoga: Part 8 is my favourite pose!” wrote a reader, who signed: “Love & kisses, Arlene the Biker Queen!”

Check out my new blog, YogaLive at daphnegordon.typepad.com. I’ll continue to write about yoga, taking it beyond the physical and into everyday life. I hope to provide inspiration, practical advice and a sense of community for those who want to continue the journey.

Yoga is alive. It always starts in the here and now. Even if that means the only thing you can commit to is a three-breath exercise, twice a day.

So, take a deep breath.

And another.

And another.
